State Legislation
IMBA works closely with many key legislators in Indiana on issues that have an impact on housing and mortgage lending. IMBA members, with expertise from origination through servicing, are also called upon periodically to assist in drafting legislation and testifying as to the merits of proposed legislation and its impact on Hoosiers.

Mortgage Action Alliance
IMBA, as a state association, is a member of the national Mortgage Bankers Association. A key component and benefit that the MBA provides its members is the Mortgage Action Alliance.
The Mortgage Action Alliance, Inc. (MAA) is a voluntary, non-partisan and free nationwide grassroots lobbying network of real estate finance industry professionals, affiliated with the Mortgage Bankers Association. MAA is dedicated to strengthening the industry's voice and lobbying power in Washington, DC and state capitals across America. Get involved with MAA to play an active role in how laws and regulations that affect the industry and consumers are created and carried out by lobbying and building relationships with policymakers. It only takes a moment to get started, and you do not have to be a member of MBA to enroll.

Federal Legislation
Working with the national Mortgage Bankers Association and our Indiana legislative representatives, IMBA has a voice in legislative initiatives at the federal level. IMBA provides input to the MBA on national issues on a regular basis and has had numerous congressional representatives from Indiana at both state and chapter events. |
IMBA PAC
As part of the mission of the Indiana Mortgage Bankers Association, the IMBA PAC was established years ago as the non-partisan political action committee for the Association:
As the voice of the mortgage industry, it shall when appropriate, seek and support legislation beneficial to its membership and the general public;
conversely, it shall openly and actively oppose legislation deemed to be harmful to its constituency
The IMBA PAC serves to support state and local elected officials and candidates who have business philosophies and positions on issues that are in alignment with the mortgage loan industry. Funding for the IMBA PAC consists of voluntary contributions from members and others outside of the Association as well as from fund raising activities throughout the year at the local chapters and the state convention.
The IMBA PAC is a valuable tool and resource for industry professionals to represent and support the mortgage loan industry in Indiana. Contributions to the PAC, along with the efforts of IMBA's lobbying, have helped support successes in working with Indiana legislators in recent years that includes; SAFE Act implementation, licensing, suitability, predatory lending, foreclosure mediation, forbearance, and notice to tenants, among others.
