I am looking forward to another great year for the Indiana Mortgage Bankers Association and our newly installed board of directors! Our new website has been successfully rolled out and we hope you all like the changes and will find it a useful reference in your business. Please let us know what comments you have.
I can’t remind everyone enough to make sure to contribute to the PAC. We are very fortunate to have the best voice in the General Assembly in Tom Dinwiddie. Please give as much as you can and keep our voice strong in the legislature, and to make a contribution online, click here for the IMBA PAC website page..
The Future Leaders Program for the Fall has started with 21 students in the class. We are looking forward to graduating another class, and one of teh projects they will be working on is finalizing the details for IMBA participating in Career Days at both Indiana University and Purdue in 2020. It was brought up at the convention that we really need to get the younger generation involved in the mortgage banking industry, and this one of the ways we can introduce the industry to students. We will be asking our members for input on this as well later this year!
Also, membership is down a bit, not because there isn’t an interest in our association, but because of the rising number of mergers and acquisitions. Each of our chapters needs to look at some different industry segments to increase membership and get potential leads as well! Getting more appraisers to join, home inspectors, CPA’s, Wealth Management people, attorneys. All of them have customers who may be looking to purchase, build or refinance a home. Please help get our membership numbers up as well as possibly increasing your own revenue.
Additionally, our annual Compliance Seminar is set for November 12th at the Ritz Charles in Carmel. We are working on changing things up a bit (see below) as the operations breakout session at this year’s convention went very well but wasn’t long enough to answer everyone’s questions. As such, we will make this a part of this year’s seminar, along with a few other things we are working on and hope to see a lot of our members there. My number one goal is to make your membership in the INMBA a valuable and great experience. Let’s all have a great year!!
In closing, IMBA recently lost a great supporter and Past President, Jack Barkley, Jack was with Centier Bank for a good part of his career and was IMBA President in 1998. Jack will be sorely missed, and to view his obituary, click here.
