Chapter Name: Greater Indianapolis Mortgage Bankers Association

Chapter’s history: In July of 1989, the Greater Indianapolis Mortgage Bankers Association (GIMBA) merged with the state association in order to create a united voice in promoting Indiana housing through legislative efforts and other programs directly impacting mortgage banking and the real estate finance industry.

Geographical area served: GIMBA serves all counties in central Indiana that are within driving distance of Indianapolis.

Description of meeting schedule: GIMBA holds Lunch and Learn sessions throughout the year. The purpose of these meetings is to provide members with opportunities to meet, learn, and participate in shared experiences with others who have common goals and concerns related to real estate finance. Each meeting has a strong educational component, as well as elements of fun and networking.

Special meetings: GIMBA holds meetings to show appreciation to staff and recognize VIP’s. The chapter also hosts a one-day Sales Seminar each year with nationally-known presenters.

Community service or other special projects:
GIMBA supports the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis home building program. Each year GIMBA contributes funds and supplies volunteer teams to assist on the construction site during the build phase of the project. Other community service projects that GIMBA has supported include Rebuilding Together Indianapolis, Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, and the Indiana Mortgage and Foreclosure Helpline administered by Momentive Consumer Credit Counseling Service. Funds for these contributions are raised by various fundraising activities.
